  • Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN)

Babatunde Raji Fashola , one of the most successful University of Benin Notable Alumni was born on 28th June, 1963 into the Family Late Alhaji Ademola Fashola and Cecelia Omolara Fashola. He completed his secondary School education at Igbobi College , Lagos. He then proceeded to the university of Benin where he studied Law and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1987. The University of Benin Alumni association, in recognition of his contributions to the association and humanity, conferred on him the Distinguished Alumni Award. He became the Governor of Lagos State from 2007 – 2015 under the All progressive Congress ( APC). He is currently the minister of works and housing.

  • Tom Ilube

Thomas Segun Ilube is another UNIBEN Notable Alumni, born on July 1963. He received his secondary education at Edo college , Benin City , Nigeria. He then proceeded to the university of Benin where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Physics. His master’s degree was received from London Cass business school in business administration. He is currently married with two children.

  • Iyom Josephine Anenih

Iyom Josephine Anenih was born on 6th July, 1948 in Sokoto state , Nigeria. Her secondary education was completed at Queen’s school Lagos. She then proceeded to study Law. She received her degrees from the University of Benin and Obafemi Awolowo University. She was appointed as the Minister of women affairs on 6th April , 2010 by Acting President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. She was also the first National women leader of the people’s democratic party ( PDP ) from 1999 – 2005.

  • Bright Okpocha

Bright Okpocha, popularly known as basket mouth is a Nigerian Comedian and actor born on 14th september , 1978 in Lagos State. He hails from Abia state , Nigeria. He had his primary and secondary education in Lagos State. He then proceeded to the University of Benin where he studied Sociology and anthropology.

  • Richard Mofe Damijo

Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) is a pouplar Nigerian actor who was born on 6th July , 1961 in Aladja community, warri, Delta state, Nigeria. His secondary education was completed at Midwest college, warri and Anglican Grammar school. He then proceeded to the university of Benin to study Theatre arts. He later went to the university of Lagos in 1997 to obtain a degree in Law.

Peter Nwaoboshi, a UNIBEN Notable Alumni, is a Nigerian politician born in 1958 in Delta state, Nigeria. He attended St. Thomas Teachers college where he completed his secondary education. He graduated from the University of Benin in 1986, where he obtained a bachelor’s of Laws degree. He was once the senator representing Delta North senatorial district.

  • George Edozie

George Edozie, a Nigerian painter was born on May 11, 1972. He had his primary education at University primary school, Nsukka. He then proceeded to Washington memorial school, Onitsha where he completed his secondary education. He later went to the university of Benin where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Applied Arts.

  • James Onanefe Ibori

James Ibori, Former Governor of Delta state, Nigeria from 1999 – 2007, was born on 4th August , 1959. He attended Baptist high school, Ogharaki for his secondary education. He then proceeded to the university of Benin to study and obtain a degree in Economics and statistics. He is currently a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP ).

Omoni Oboli, a Nigerian actress, script writer, film director and producer was born on 22 April, 1978 in Benin city, Edo state, Nigeria. Omoni Oboli graduated with 2nd class Upper division in foreign languages from the University of Benin. She is happily married to Nnamdi Oboli with three children.

Oladipo Agboluaje, a British playwright was born in Hackney in 1968. He studied theatre arts at the University of Benin. His works over the years have been quite outstanding. His works include; Early morning at oval house, God is a DJ, The estate, The christ of Gold harbour lane, for one night and others.

  • Ovie Omo – Agege

Ovie Omo - Agege

Ovie Omo – Agege, a Nigerian Lawyer and politician was born on 23 August, 1963 in orogun, ughelli North Local government area, Delta state , Nigeria. He attended St. George grammar school, obinomba obiaruku, Delta state. He graduated in 1985 from the University of Benin where he obtained a degree in law. He was eventually called to the Nigerian bar in 1986. He is the senator representing Delta state Central senatorial district. He just emerged the Deputy president of the Nigerian Senate on June 11, 2019.
